94 and 95 GTX

Hello all, brand new here. Looking for any thoughts advice etc. Considering a package of 2 skis, both GTX, one is I think a 94 and the other is a 95, both run, guy says they don't get enough use so sometimes they run a little rough. The floating docks, which I desperately need, are probably worth $1500 in my area. If I buy the whole package am I just buying a headache? Never had a sea-doo before so I have no idea about this model's reliability etc....

Just plan on having to redo the fuel system, new fuel lines and carb rebuilds no aftermarket parts. If you want to verify engine health use a compression gauge to measure compression, should be around 150psi.

Both have a 657 engine. If I remember right the 95 has the 657x motor so the 94 has 70hp, 95 has 80hp. Both are excellent motors, but all their parts are not interchangeable.

Do the compression test. 150ish is what you are aiming for with no more than a 10% difference between the two cylinders.

If the fuel lines are gray they need to be replaced with automotive grade fuel lines. The gray lines deteriorate inside and kill motors.

There are so many things to list, but if compression is good and the machines have not been abused and are clean INSIDE then chances are they going to work good. I say inside because a DOO should be dirt and crud free under the seat, if not then walk away.

You need to do a test ride if they are advertised as running. Make sure you ride each one for 10 ish minutes, shut it down wait a minute then do a restart. They should run around 45-47 on a gps in calm water.

I have a 94 and love the simplicity, hull could be better for turning but is still fun. Very stable machines. I have carried 4 adults on mine in a tight spot.

If they run, water ready, and depending on cosmetic condition, I'd say $1000 to $1500 each. Much more than $1500 each you get into a price range for a more powerful model GTX, like a 96' and up, which is 110 hp.

Reliability wise those skis are pretty solid. May want to at least ck compression on the engines before making an offer, otherwise offer on the low end if you can't ck.

I have a 95 GTX and i love it. It will get 49mph all day long.
Burns gas though much faster than the earlier 587 motors.
