Are there any differences between the 94,95,96 XP hulls other than graphics. Will all exterior parts interchange, such as hoods, seats, vents, controls, grabhandles and such? I know there are different engine sizes, but are all three year modles considered the x4 hull?
Where do I find the single gauge hoods ,without the mirrors and what gauges do you use to replace the oem cluster of two or three?

What are the best size aftermarket handlebars(width) to use on these machines?

No 94 hulls are not X4's but all 95 and 96 XP's are. The Seats will not interchange totally because they are molded on the inside according to which engine and pipe you have. Vents, controls, grab handles-yes. Single gauge hoods are on many SP and SPI models and more. Handlebar width is a matter of preference and riding style, you want a UMI setup for your steering and that takes $300.

i think the only question matt missed was the gauges, and I use the info gauge because it has the fuel gauge on it, the others I throw away or sell if they work.

So what would be the difference from the 94xp and the x4 hulls. Are the 95 and 96 different dimentions(longer or wider hulls)?
Would the vts interchange from the three years?
I have a pair of 94 xp 657x's, that I picked up with a trailer for 500 bucks, last year. One needs a rotary valve shaft( striped gear) that I rebuilt the carbs on and the other ski runs pretty good with the exception of an off idle bog,but I have been having a blast on it so far.
It was the green with pink graphics and the previous owner painted all green parts with red paint, even the seat and did a piss poor job of it and I dont think I could use paint stripper to remove the paint. I just want to dress it up some and was wondering about parts interchangeability. The vts does not work and the beeper does not work.
The only thing that sux is that next yeay a 2 stroke ban goes into efect ,here on lake mead and mohave and the closest place to ride will be an hour and a half from Vegas ,down on the lower Colorado river. So I do not know if it will be woth it to rebuild the dead ski engine. But they are fun hulls.

94 is not an x4 hull? Maybe your thinking of 93 and down?
I had a 94 sp and the hull was preety much the same as my 95 Spx, unless I missed something.

The trim will not exchange because the 94 has the motor up where the fuel selector is on the newer ones and they run a cable down to the nozzle.

TWO STROKE BAN? That sounds like another attack on religion to me. I am so sorry to here that, water is made to be ridden.

Ah, correct forgot about that. Thank you for the correction. 2 stroke ban does sound like it sucks. So much for stand up skis. There all 2 stroke, even new.

that is interesting, i'm curious how they do get around that. what is really BS is that the 2-stroke ban is only for PWC, 2-stroke outboards are fine, this is just a first step in banning PWC at powell, mohave and mead that i'm sure they'll find some other excuse for.

back of the 94xp's didn't have trim tabs and was rounded the 95/96 xp were x4's

thats bullslit if they are going to ban 2 stroke then they need to ban all 2 stroke

Yes the ban is only for PWC and is only for carburtated 2 strokes. The direct injected(fuel, not oil) 2 stroke will still be allowed. It does not affect 2 stroke outboards or seadoo type boats.
The parts interchange I was intrested in was things like hoods, seats, vents and grab handles. PO ruined all the body parts with the red paint.
Any single gauge hoods or hoods without mirrors, fit the 94? If You put a 94 and a 95 side by side, I just cannot tell the difference.

The trim pieces are interchangable, you can use any xp trim pieces from the xp up to 96 and the spx parts up to 99 you can also use other sp and spi parts 94 and up. The single gauge hoods are from the sp and spi and early spx hulls, also the 95 xp 800 model. The seat will interchange with All those models you may need to change your base of the seat though, or you can go to joanne fabrics buy 1 1/2 yards of any color of your choice marine grade vinyl and wrap your seat you have your self it will only cost you $20 in fabric and $8 in staples

An easy way to tell is the trailering/docking hooks at the front of the Doo, the X4 ones are molded flush with the hull and painted to match. The earlier hulls (93/94 XP for sure) have a protruding stainless steel loop.
