I have chked the slip ring as best I could and there are no tell tale signs of wear. It looks almost new except for one cut into the ring that goes 1/2 way around about the size of a #2 pencil lead. No white showing through anywhere. The impeller seems real tight to the slip ring no light coming through. The boat won't excelerate out of the hole at full throttle. If I easy the throttle on it seems to run all the way to 7000 rpm.I'm only getting about 36-38 mph so it seems like I'm not pushing enough water. Every now and then it will get a surge of power like it is hooking up , but only for a second. Is there any where else I could be getting air besides the obvious change the slip ring. Am I missing some basic issue here. This boat ran fine until motor mount broke . Replaced motor mount bearing seals etc. Now this problem. I have done what I can to align the shaft and it seems ok from a vibration point of view.Since I've had the pump off is there something I could have missed that would cause this problem. It is like night and day and I'm sure the slip ring didn't go from one day to the next. I'm missing something basic here. Any suggestions for something to test or look for.
