93 XP has intermittent spark

I recently got this ski, it sometimes runs and other times has no spark. I took it to the lake and it ran mostly well. Occasionally it would lose spark and I kept on flicking the tether switch until it started. I figured the tether switch was bad, so I replaced it. The problem is still no spark. What else could create this intermittent problem?

Check the grounds in the rear electrical box and by check I mean takke all the wires loose, sand the terminals, wire brush everything else, reinstall and make sure the lag bolt for the ground wires is tight, if it won't tighten relpace it with a bolt by drilling through drom the backside and isntalling an allen bolt with a nut to secure the wiring.

Also verify that the small ground wire going to the battery is good and that the terminal is in good shape.

So I opened the electrical box and it was immaculate, nothing to clean. I checked all connections, everything looks great. I cleaned both cables from the battery and checked the ground on the engine, all looked good. Tried it again and still no spark. Then I pressed the red engine off switch a couple of times, and it fired right away. It must be sticking, I will have to replace it too.

What I don't understand about these tether and cutoff switches is if they are not working properly, how come the starter cranks with no spark? If the key is not in, the starter won't crank, and if the red shutoff button is pressed the starter won't crank either. If they work to allow starter to spin, how can they not work to allow spark. Does anyone know about this?

The stop switches defiantly do wear out and cause issues, unplug the stop switch and see what happens, if this fixes your issue you know what the problem is.
