Have owned my 92 spx for the last three years. It runs great the only issue is lately it keeps killing the battery so I bought a new battery charges it to full and threw it in... Hot the water for about four or five hours and then it would not start. I took it home the battery connection on the positive side had melted and disformed the metal connection on the battery itself...I tried to recharge the battery but of would recharge...has anyone else ever had this problem... I am thinking it may be electical???

It sounds like the regulator is bad. It controls the power coming from the magneto to the battery so it won't over charge it. It usually will blow the charging fuse. Check to see if the fuse is the correct one. I would also check all the wiring going to the battery to see if it cooked any other wires.
