OK, well, i checked the forums and the manuals, and i made quite a few newbie mistakes, but i got them off. I wanted to remove the oil pump after hearing some of the horror stories about when they fail. So, i just removed the 4 bolts securing the intake to the engine. Worked great, but about a half of a gallon of gas came out when i separated them. Which i was having flooding problems before, that's why I'm rebuilding. What could that be pointing to? Should i look at something a little closer now since that happened? Thanks for the help.

sticky needles

need to tear apart the carbs, and rebuild them, along with purchasing a new set of needle and seat assy's. Your needles are sticking open, alowing gas to fill the case assy.

Well, i am rebuilding them now, i just wanted to know what to look at closely. So, we're on the same page! Needles you say?? I'll post all my pics, and we can go from there.

Ok, so they're all apart.

What next......

So i went here....
http://www.sbtontheweb.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=1990sgt
I ordered 2 carb rebuild kits and the oil pump block off kit. What else do i need? The numbers on the carb are....
2.0 Needle, 110 High speed, and no numbers on the low speed, and I don't know what the spring is. I imagine everything was stock, the screw that retains the Needles shaft into the seat on the PTO carb was a little stripped, so I don't know. Should I keep these numbers, or go bigger, smaller? I want it to be a normal ski, no mods.

Oh, and without the oil pump, what oil should i go with? And what should the mixture be? I was using the Seadoo $60/gal oil, but i was burning through that every 3 tanks of gas. Stick with it, or what?

And 1 more beg, What are the thru-hull seals? The dealership told me i need Reverse and steering cable seals. Where do I get those? They also stated that my jet pump is leaking pump oil out of the cap, and the cap is turned the wrong way, the driveshaft carrier housing has front oil seal pushed out. Should I rebuild the jet pump? Is that what he wanted to tell me?

dont worry about replacing the main/pilot jets, in the carb or carbs, along with the spring, no need to replace any of those, BUT DO order the needle and seat assy. As for the pump leaking, remove the nozzle, undo the 3-bolts holding the cone on, and turn it so the "fill" hole screw is upwards. That may solve the leak issue. Go ahead though, and drain the old oil out of pump, (by removing the cone, and tilting ski up), then refill with 75-90 syn oil...(any brand will do). Since it being a 90's ski, run the mineral oil, it'll burn the same, and wont be as much as syn oil.

stick with the 2.0. 2.5 will flood the engine, unless you plan on using aftermarket air filters/arrestors. I dont recommend it though.

Ok, i'll order those then, thanks a lot! Now, i hope my pictures help me get it back together! It was really easy to get apart, but nothing seemed dirty or damaged. What am i supposed to clean other than the obvious stuff in sight? Should i soak them in some kind of solvent before reassembly? And what do you think the gas mixture should be now that i dont have an oil pump? What kind of oil should i run through with the gas?

mind you, you'll need to leave the oil bottle in the ski, to feed the RV cavity...thats the big oil line WITHOUT the inline filter. Then the other oil line that goes from the exhaust side, back to the top of the oil bottle.

As for "premix" oil, i used the caster 927, make sure you get "premix" NOT "injection".

No need to soak the carbs, get a few cans of carb cleaner, and spray away. Remove the lsa/hsa adjuster screws, when cleaning, then install at the proper turns.

Ok, that's easy enough. So, it'll still be providing the enigine with a form of lubrication, but as for the fuel, premix with caster 927, got it. Alright, well, i'm going to get to cleaning while i wait 3 days for my kits and needles to come in. Thanks again.

So the kits came in today. Everything is installed and it looks good, but one quick question, What else is rotating behine the intake manifold besides the shaft that turns the oil pump gear and the oil pump? Because there is circular scarring on the internal side of the intake manifold. What goes between the intake manifold and the engine?
