I have a 1996 sportster, and i'm wondering if any of you know whether this boat is up to pulling a large (2 person) tube, or a wakeboarder

it did great pulling one person on a boogie board, but I don't know if it's up to bigger pulls

I pulled a double tube a few times... I could go fast, but I would fall off a step in a hard corner. A large single works better. I did pull a wake board a bunch of times. It worked fine.

I have a 96 sportster and just bought a wakeboard. Yesterday was our first time pulling it and it does an OK job of pulling it although it will take a little longer to get up to plane because I noticed that the weight from the rope/wakeboarder on the tow ring tends to cause the nose to rise up more than usual. I dont know what the laws are in TX but in NY we are required to have a driver and a spotter on the boat so it helps to have the spotter sitting at the bow to lessen the weight at the rear of the boat. Obviously the weight of the driver/spotter/wakeboarder will affect your performance.
