Back in 95-96 when DESS hit MPEM programmers went out to the dealers. At that time 8 Racing versions of the Programmer went to the 8 racing teams Seadoo supported. At first they were told that they were only "issued" to them and to help other Seadoo racers who needed the tool's capability. Luckily Seadoo never swung back around to collect them and now I've ended up with one.

The difference in these and the regular programmers is that these have the ability to change timing curves and raise rev limits. There are a couple other little things like being able to choose how many seconds between 1 and 33(normally set to 33 seconds) that the gauges stay powered up if you hit the switch with the lanyard off.

One "issue" is that I do not have a manual or chart to show me which timing curve or rev limit I'm choosing. I know that the #5 curve is the one to have for racing or a noticeable performance improvement. I have grey boxes from modified skis that have #6 chosen for the rev limit. Emails have just been sent to a couple different folks that have one of these so hopefully they will have the info and share.

The good news is that aftermarket rev limiters/timing adjusters are no longer needed. When I sell someone a aftermarket pipe, carbs, or anything that would make the engine rev more then 7k I can now tune their grey boxes to allow it. 96 boxes with the CDI ending in 0811 are adjustable but the 95's ending in 0810 don't seem to be. I've been testing it on one of my skis.

Unfortunately I can't sell my normal programmer because it works on all carbed 2-strokes for coding keys and setting the initial timing. We have a very smart and kind member here (Ankenyou) who could update the racing programmer to the latest version but he pointed out that it may erase it's special properties and turn it into a normal programmer. We decided the risk is not worth it.

So tell me what ya think and hit me with your questions. Any of you other guys out there tying to get more out of your 787s can hit me up. If anyone can help me dig up more about how to translate the #'s that would be great.

Wow...
So many years later we are still learning new things about our SEADOO's...
Very cool MR matt braley!

One of the fellas I reached out to for info on the Racing Programmer totally hooked me up with all the relevant info Seadoo faxed him over in 1995! Man what a find. I guess the 95 CDI's ending in 0810 can be programmed up to 7500 rpm and the later ones up to 8400 rpm. I've never heard of a 800 turning over 8 grand myself.

Nice Matt! I know Nick was looking for info on his race programmer as well last year. Minnetonka4me

Do you have tested the map curve 5 .? Great treah. .. my friend have buds megatech key,do you know if he is possible put curve 5 and raise the rev limiter 7200to 7600

Yes I run the #5 timing curve in my skis and have set up many others at this point with no reported problems.

I'm not sure what the new BUDS system can do I've only worked with the original stuff.

A racer told me I can go into non DESS 717 MPEM's! I have not tried it yet but I will.

Ok, thank you for reply!! 5# curve is only for racer ?
If can’t pit curve 5 timing! I will add 2 degre with microtouch rev! It,s very similar!!
What is yours seadoo who use curve 5 timing?
Check my signature,i will use 5#timing or add 2degre with it! I will use 98 octanes

i just seen that you got this matt. thats a nice little toy you have there. it might be time to build another ski lol

Matt what is your setting with correction timming ?? Mine is 6

Okay, i find .... the defaut values is 1 (0 degree )
With values 6 ... i have 5 curve timming with -2 degree all band!
I will put values 1

Yes the timing #'s are in the manual. I always have to look at what each # means. I usually "slam' the timing forward using the #2 option. The engines don't seem to run any hotter.

Yes I like the most advanced setting but I don't always use it. If someone sends me a grey box and they're original engine is in there without the crank or flywheel having been pulled then I'll leave it. Otherwise I tend to advance it a little.
