787 carb question

I have a challenger 1800 with twin 787's. One engine I have had numerous problems with developing WOT (4.5kmax). I attempted to rebuild the carb but the previous owner had striped several screws and I could only do a partial rebuild. Rave valves checked and cleaned too. I adjusted the low and hi speed screw settings and that helped some. But the biggest help seemed to be adjusting the accelerator pump. Regardless, I am still unable to develop max RPM and thinking I need a new set of carbs. My question is this, on the engine that runs great, there does not appear to be an accelerator pump. When I go to purchase a set, I notice that most do not. Do I need to find a set of carbs with the accelerator pump?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

you can use a set without pumps, but you may have to jet it differently as the ones with pumps are jetted leaner from Seadoo. I would try and find a set with pumps as I had the same problem..You are way off with that 4500 RPM and even with stuck rave it should turn more..I would check and make sure its getting full throttle and do a high speed plug check and check the color. You could always swap the carbs from engine to engine...you are so far off that what ever is wrong should stand out...Jason

Did you check to make sure you have the update rave valves and jetting, there's was an recall for that boat and year..Use the search..
