Hey out there! I'm piecing together a 657 engine for my GTX. I have it all together and it runs but the PTO flywheel I used was off a 587. Should I change it out before I put it in the water or will it be OK for awhile. It doesn't seem to vibrate any worse than any other of my machines. Any input is welcome. Thanks...BRANT

I don't know the answer to your question but here is what I would do. I would go to the top of the page and look up the part and write down the part number. Then I would look at the same part for the 587 and see if the part #'s are the same. So if you need to know if the PTO fly wheel for a 657 is interchangebale with the pto flywheel from the 587 if the part #s match you are good to go.

The 657x motor uses a heavier flywheel and is stock to keep the engine revs at high rpm. You can use the lighter flywheel = better/quicker
outa the hole, A very small (slower) difference will be felt at WOT speeds.

Thanks for the input guys! I know that the 587 flywheel is smaller but I was worried about possible harmonic problems. Sounds like I should give it a go! It might just be exactly what I've been looking for. A little more snap out of the whole. I'll let you know how it works out...BRANT
