does anybody know the differences between these motors? i have a 717GTI. bad crank. just bought 657x motor on ebay. 1 badly burnt piston. top ring burned away. i found out FOR SURE that 717 jugs don't fit 650's. i have a chip in the top of 1 intake transfer port on the 657x jug.. it would hafta be bored out to max to mebbe fix it. are 650 cyls any or much different from 650x jugs? they are cheap and easy to find. next question; can i put the crank from 657x into my 717? there are also stroker cranks around for these motors. are they made with shorter rods? or are custom pistons to make compression height correct needed? and do you need to raise-lower the ports for the extra stroke? thanks.
