Putting engine back in. Local shop says hook up pump, shaft, engine. Leave mount/ pump bolts loose , lift engine 2-3 times, wiggle, then tighten down. Says this will align it. Will this work?

Of course it won't work. Will the ski run. Yes. The only thing that will line the engine up properly is the alignment tool even that isn't perfect but it meets requirements.

Haha that's pretty funny. Obviously there is an actual procedure for this process. It's outlined in service manual

Several people on the forum have created they're own alignment tool using something like a broom handle

That was a true story. Guy brought me this ski... all kind a crap was loose, of the engine mounts were separated and the engine sounded like a concrete mixer. I told him I didn't know how long the engine would last. When you have misalgnment it stresses everything. That is why alignment is so important on mechanical equipment. It is cheaper to buy an alignment kit than install and engine that is improperly aligned. It's gonna be junk way sooner. Good Luck.

There was some talk about throwing down on a couple alignment tools that would be passed around the forum members.

A logistical nightmare but would be cool if it ever got figured out.
