3000 RPM then fails

Looking at possibly purchasing a 2003 GTX 4-tec supercharged ltd which is being offered for $1,700. It has a new battery, new plugs, new fuses and restored gauges. The owner says that it has 165 hours of run time. It will not go past 3000 to 3500 rpm before it fails. Owner said that this just recently started and it ran 60+ mph before that. Is this a easy (inexpensive) fix or something major in case it would not be worth taking a chance on it. It looks very good, but I don't want a money pit. Thanks in advance.

Too difficult to answer your question with any accuracy. It could be something as simple as an obstructed jet pump. or as significant as and issue with the engine or electronics. Inspections and tests need to be performed to isolate the source of the problem. If you aren't familiar with these skis, I'd move on.

Thank you for your reply. I thought that may be the case. If repairs could be just a few hundred dollars, it might be worth taking a chance. But best to look at one that is running great to begin with. Thanks again.
