I have a 2014 Seadoo Spark 90 HO that gave an engine overheat alarm after 10 minutes on the lake. I currently have not diagnosed why the engine temperature alarm sounded, but I've ordered parts to replace the thermostat, coolant sensor, exhaust sensor, and MAP sensor along with a new coolant reservoir and cap.
While looking at the water pump I noticed the impeller turns by hand with slight resistance. When inspecting the water pump I can turn the impeller both directions by hand with little resistance. There is no slack and I can not feel the gears with light resistance. Is the water pump impeller suppose to spin freely or should it locked up only spin when the motor is running?
