Just purchased and put in water. As soon as I start it, it just takes off! Is this normal? Idle doesn't seem to be that high. Gonna be a bear to dock! Btw, I'm a newb to pwc's, so go easy LOL

I don't believe the GTS has a manual reverse, so being direct drive, whenever the engine is on, the ski will move forward. At idle you will move forward about 2-4 mph. Makes docking tricky but most entry level skis don't have reverse (manual or IBR) so you will need to shut down as you approach the dock and glide in.

The 2018 GTS model doesn't even have it. GTS is the very basic model of the larger Sea-Doos (if you exclude the Spark). I guess you should buy a telescopic paddle. I always carry one on my skis for some harder situation of it you experience trouble like being stuck in the middle of the lake.

To dock, just idle towards dock, about 10 to 15 yards out, turn the wheel and cut the motor. The back will slowly drift to the dock. You’ll figure it out real fast.

yup they are all direct drive so once the engine is spinning so is the prop. Without IBR there is no redirection of the water for "neutral" it's completely normal and you just have to shut the thing off before you get too close and drift it in. You'll get the hang of it. Even with IBR I usually shut off anyway if it's shallow so as to not suck up anything from the bottom of the lake.

Thanks guys!
It just took me by surprise the first time I started it and it just took off. Lol.
I rode the '16 Yam VX Deluxe I also bought, home first, That has reverse, etc. Then I walk back to the boat launch, hop on the GTS, WHOA !!! Just glad I was pointing the right way. Too funny. Well, now I have a funny story to tell the kids.
And yeah, I'm sure I'll get the hang of docking it, if I can dock a pontoon boat on a windy day without destroying the dock or the 'toon.......... For now, I'm just drifting up on the beach.
