2010 GTX Oil Change

I'm about to change the oil and filter on my 2010 GTX. I have the kit which includes the filter and all three O-rings. I'm aware of the care that needs to be exercised to remove the filter cap. I have removed the cross member and removed the coolant tank from it.

Here is my question...on the 2010 model, is it necessary to remove the air intake silencer to get to the oil filter or is there enough room to get to everything if I leave it in place? If I do need to remove the silencer, is it just the plastic clips to remove it or is it bolted on?

Ok, here's what you do for those who have a 2010 GTX.....

1. Undo the five clips on the top half of the intake silencer and remove the top piece.

2. Disconnect the hose clamp on the port-aft location of the intake silencer.

3. Remove the "inner tube" from the silencer.....it just pulls straight out of a rubber sleeve/gasket.

4. Unhook the three straps holding down the forward piece of the air intake that sits on top of the cylinder head, and remove.

5. Remove the two 10 mm bolts holding down the bottom half of theair intake silencer.

6. Loosen the hose clamp at the throttle body. This leaves the air intake silencer, the U-shaped plastic hose and an L-shaped hose all intact....this makes re installation a breeze.

7. You now have unfettered access to the oil filter cover.

8. The oil filer cover on the 2010 is of a new design, and when you loosen the Torx bolt on top of the cover, the entire cover will come off VERY easily. No prying or pulling required.

9. The actual oil removal procedure is still the same.

10. Simply reverse the procedure to reinstall.

TIP: Reconnect the hose clamp on the throttle body which will help tremendously in lining up the two 10 mm bolt holes.
