I mentioned this on Uncle Pete’s thread but thought I’d give a little more detail here.
I bought a 2010 GTX Limited a month ago from a local dealership. The most in-accommodating group of business people I’ve ever dealt with. Took their word that machine was water ready, but no water test before purchase, much less any sort of warranty.
4th time out and as soon as I got on plane she shut down with IBR and engine lights on. Shut off and started until on the third try every thing worked as normal. Tried it yesterday and same lights came on as soon as it started.
Cut to the chase,, pulled battery to check age, factory date code is 14 months. Did a slow charge, put everything back together and IBR working perfectly.
MUST have full amperage or the IBR code will come up, even if there’s nothing wrong with it.

Do a load test on the battery,,,even though it is new.,,the inr motor could be hoing,,,or the circuit boards are going.

Yes, the battery supplements the magneto charging system even at high rpm. If the IBR fault system detects low voltage or current to the actuator motor it will shut down the system. A proper magneto output 14.5 volts and 10 amps at 5500 RPM and a good battery are needed not to activate IBR faults. Check your battery wiring and connections also for corrosion and proper torques.
