A buddy of mine is looking at purchasing a used 2009 RXT IS and asked me a few questions that I was hoping someone could shed a light on.

1) Does the IS suspension really make much of a difference in the ride?

2) The ski is a 2009 RXT IS, 255HP, with 78 hours, in very good condition. The asking price is 10K. What would be a fair offer in your opinion?

3) Any other feedback on this ski would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance guys!

1) Suspension makes a HUGE difference in how it rides. Make sure they test drive it. It isn't for everyone, but it absolutely makes a big difference in how it rides. It smooths it out for sure but it also takes away the ability to toss it around and such. It's also more expensive to maintain but may be worth it depending on buyer.

2) It might be a hair high but relatively fair. Does it come with a trailer? Does it have any warranty left? I just picked up my 08 RXT-X in July for $8500 under warranty until the end of 2012 with 60 hours on it.

P.S. I like how you misspelled "grammar" in your edit haha

I think the price is a little high if no trailer is included, a nice trailer that is. You are already closing in on a supercharger rebuild at the 100 hour mark and the cost to do it yourself is around $300+. Add labor to that if you have a shop do it.

I agree with Carguy89 about the test ride to determine if you want the iS or not, but you have to test a non-iS model to compare. If you are a long range cruiser, it will probably be appreciated more, especially if riding frequently in choppy water. Older riders, I am sure would also appreciate it more. It will soften the ride and the jarring on the body would be much less.

With all the components in the system though, the potential for additional cost of ownership is there if issues with it arise. And, it really restricts access to the engine area, making routine maintenance much harder to do.
