Hey guys, i just bought a 08 rxp a few weeks ago, I have a few issues already.

First off and most importantly, I think the wear ring is done for. The machine was riding great for a while, but one day my wife told me the seadoo was broken after i came home from work. I walked down to the beach hopped on the seadoo, it fired up fine, sounded normal, but as soon as i touched the throttle It made that noise when the engine is revving and the impellar aint moving lol. I then pulled it out of the water and checked the impellar and sure enough big rocks were stuck all up in the impellar and the thing wouldnt even move.
Im not sure how long she rode on it like that for...maybe 5 minutes before she brought it to shore.

I cleared all the rocks out that were wedged up in between the impellar and wear ring. THere was white waxy stuff all over the impellar which told me the wear ring had been scored pretty good.

Visually to look at it, it doesnt look horrible, but it runs like crap now. I can still get up to my 70mph but the acceleration is not even close to what it was and i have alot of white wash out the back now when i ride unlike before.

The noise it makes now isnt as pure and low pitch as before, now it kind of screams a little and feels gutless. It wont torpedo me out of the water when i pin it like before.

Is the only problem i have a wear ring??? Is that screaming noise just too much water passing throught the impellar and wear ring??? Do I have to worry about anything else like the supercharger having to be rebuilt?

Also, my idiot friend hopped on the seadoo the same weekend I got it and thought it was ok to ride through the rapids on the boat. He made a huge gouge all the way up the bottom of the boat. Its about 2 inches wide and the length of the boat nearly. I can see the white fibre glass. Is this an expensive fix? should I leave it? Will it eventually leak?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Sounds like a wear ring. It is a cheap easy fix you can do yourself for like $100. Fix that and see how it runs. Hopefully you arent having any supercharger issues. Is it still getting max rpm?

As far as the cosmetic stuff. Usually you can fix it easily with a gel cote repait kit. Search here and read up. It is also an easy do it yourself fix for like $60. That size repair may be a little harder though. Post a pic.

THANKS for the reply. I figured I could do the wear ring repair on my own. But im a noob with the seadoos. My only question is..Do i have to reseal anything? I see that there is a black sealant around the steel casing below the impellar. If its just nuts and bolts Im sure i can do it, if its resealing and specialty tools, id rather send it in. Ive been quoted for a little over 200 for the job by a reputable dealer. I will post a pic of the botom of the boat asap.

One side note tho...The bolts that hold up the "cage" where the water intake is...the bolt is spinning and i cant get it out. I can take it all but that one bolt. How could this happen? How can I get that off? DO i need to take the cage off to change the wear ring???

thanks again

I dont know about the max rpm. Like i said, im a noob with this thing, I never took note of what the max rpm was before the issues started. But like i said, it will still climb to 65-70mph, but the acceleration is not as good at all. Does the supercharger affect more of the top or bottom end speed? My wife said it still gets to 70mph. I have only got it to 65 on rough water since the issues. But shes 100 pounds lighter than me. Am i to believe the supercharger is fine if it still nearly maxes out at top speed? are there any signs to look for or hear that will tell me the supercharger is done for?
