2007 gtx loss of rpms and mph

took ski out of winterization and its only maxing out at around 45mph and rpms seems to max out at 6300 last year was at 60mph-easy. put new plugs in and still same. doesn't seem to misfire(idles smooth), but cant be 100% sure of that. double checked oil level and that's good, not over full.

any thoughts or directions I should go? im going to search for the tread that shows how to test the coils and maybe try to do that.

It really does sound like an over fill issue.

Air filter plugged?
Do you have a SC?

If you do have a SC look at the hoses. If one is off or cracked you will lose about 25 MPH.

I bet the hose is not connected. Normally removed when winterized to blow the inter cooler out.

Fouled plugs, over-filled oil,,,
But i am betting you have a SC hose issue. You lose 20-25 MPH when there is a hose issue.

just talked with my dad, he said he doesn't think it's a hose issue cause he never took the hose off to winterize. We put new plugs on last Friday, that didn't change anything. The old plugs looked decent, not burnt or fouled looking. He said it's still maxing out at 6300 rpms. I'm gonna still have him double check all the hoses, and oil level.

Well, better look at the intercooler and the hoses. Water sits in them and needs to be blown out and pour RV antifreeze into the intercooler. You make have a crack in the intercooler or blown hose due to freezing issues.

Sounds like loss of boost.
Rather it be via the intercooler, piping to it and from it. OR the SC itself not boosting as it should.

Maybe pull the intake to the SC and see if you can turn the wheel by hand. If so... Its bad.

The intercooler is NOT cooled by the cooling system. It is cooled by the raw water via the pump. So, there is raw water that will freeze in the intercooler and the hoses that feed it from the pump.

When's the last time you had the SC rebuilt? It's possible your washers are toast or god forbid broke apart

I agree, could be the SC itself. I feel strongly that it is a lack of boost issue.

ski has 104 hours on it. We just got it last year. So don't know history on it.

It was fine when we parked it and right out of the gate this year it's not right. I am gonna lean towards what coastiejoe said that could be intercooler. I'm gonna look up the video my dad followed to winterize it and see if I can post it here so you guys can see just what we did and see where we may have went wrong

Take the hose off the SC and see if you can turn it with your fingers. It should be VERY hard to turn.

Dad just text me said hoses are all fine. He took hose off and said the impeller has some drag to it but he's not sure what amount of drag it should have.

I ?think? 10 foot lbs at the nut.Oh,that was on my 215 and not sure if I was able to move by finger.I used a torque wrench.Digital.
I would rebuild it,it's easy! At 100 hrs it's been on borrowed time.Even if that's not it you'll have piece of mind knowing its new.

Ok so dad just left my house, had a discussion about the ski. ( I'm moving and unable to get down the shore till after the move) For clarification he said this ski only has 57 hours on it. It's our other ski that has over 100- so I was mistaken.

he said that what coastiejoe said, as he described "VERY hard to turn", he believes he is right that this may be a sc issue. He was able to turn it with his fingers as he says, with some but little resistance. He said he put two more hours on it this weekend on his attemp to check things out, and is now tops out at 40 mph and 6200 rpm. Hoses all checked fine. Not sure if that video we watch was incorrect on winterize.

Appreciate all the input so far. Hope you guys understand it's not that I second guess you guys, it's just that I only get to check things out on the weekend for like 2 hours so I try to get every scenario and every little tidbit so I don't waste 3/4 of the time I have on the weekend starting at the ski not having a clue what to do

If the ceramic washers failed, the parts are now in your crank case. They will cause serious harm to the engine.

I think the next best thing to do is to pull the SC and post a picture of the washers for us.

2007 had them, 2008 was suppose to not have them. But we have seen some sneak through production with them. 09 up is good to go.

Looks like you HAD ceramic washers and they are GONE.

Not good. The engine and oil pumps now need to be cleaned of all that debris. Do a search, Lots of tips from the pros here on what to do now. Most importantly... Don't run it anymore until you do.
