2007 GTI SE Runs Rough at High Speed

My 2007 GTI SE runs rough at high speed, runs great up to 30 MPH. Gets to 53 MPH, starts to misfire after a few seconds. Continues to run rough at low speed for a minute or so, then runs great again. Plugs are new, look clean, nice tan color.

Maybe related, I have replaced three batteries, can't seem to keep them charged. Any clues?

I've been having similar issues with my 2006 GTI SE running rough. Not to the degree you describe, just seems to be skipping a bit. Posted here, advice was to change plugs. Brand new plugs, still having issues. Posted here again........ crickets.......

I'm no expert, but I have read in other threads that rectifier can cause ski to run rough. If you are having charging issues then the rectifier may be an issue. Not sure if it works the same as 2 stroke rectifier, but when my 2000 GTX RFI rectifier went bad I couldn't keep battery charged. Measured voltage at battery with lanyard off and got 12 volts (little low), measured at idle and down to like 10.5 (way low). With new rectifier measured 13.6 v at idle. Like I say, not sure if 4tech is the same.
