Hi Guys, I've had my 2007 C180 SC215 for around 4 months now and its been running pretty sweet. I had the washer mod done a couple of months back as a precaution and ever since have sensed an apparent drop off in top speed. I'm sure with the original ceramic washers it used to get to 45-46 mph but now it tops out at around 39-40 mph according to the dash meter (usually with 2 adults and 2 lightly built teengers on board). The conditions were ideal on a fairly smooth lake.
I've propbably done about 15 hours on the new steel washers with close to 70 all up on the motor. The revs usually reach the max at 8050 if pushed but last weekend it went to around 7900 and the last 1/3rd of the throttle movement didn't make any difference. Is it possible there could be a problem developing or is this normal. Should the steel washers perform as well as the ceramic or is the speed more related to the drive if the engine revs ok?
Any advice appreciated.
