is the 2006 seadoo sportster with the 215 supercharged rotex 4 tec and good boat. trying to learn about it and wondering now after finding this website, which by the way i love, never new so many people are willing to talk and help people.. also wondering if i got screwed over for what i paid for it. thanks

Depends on how many hours it has. I have an 06 sportster 150 4tec that i bought last year and paid $9000 and it only had 35 hours on it. I would be happy to tell you everything i know but it aint much. lol. I'm learning as i go also.

hey steve thanks.. where do i find how many hours, plus i think i need new spark plugs, what kind and where do i get them from.. thanks

It has to be hooked to a diagnostic computer to get the hours. It should tell you in the manual about the spark plugs or take one out and go to the autoparts store.

I had a choice between an '04 sportster 4 tech (155 HP) 58 Hours or an '05 Sportster 4 tech with the supercharger (215 HP) hours unknown. Both were priced at $6300 and both looked very clean. The '04 was from a seadoo dealer and came with a 30 day warranty. He also did a full tuneup and oil change on the boat The '05 was a private sale with no guarantees at all, except the word of the seller who swore it was perfect. I did some homework and found that the supercharged (215HP) has its share of problems with the ceramic washers. I had no way of knowing if the '05 had them already break in the engine and maybe thats why he was selling the boat or if they might go after I buy the boat. I also didn't like the fact it must use high test gas where the 155 HP uses regular. Anyway, after talking to two different boat mechanics they both said the supercharged seadoos are in the shop all the time and to go with the much more reliable 155HP '04, and thats what I did. So far its running perfect and am happy with my choice.

well i hope i didnt make a mistake. i have been very pleased with my supercharger except i didn't know i had to run premium so it started running like crap. now it was running good until this weekend

Stumbo, I live in PC also. where are you normally boating at? I'm normally wakeboarding in bonitia bay then cruise out to shell island after that.

thats cool, like i said i normally put at bonitia bay and wakeboard for a while with some guys from work and then cruise to shell island when we cant stand anymore. so if you wanna change it up just look for the lil yellow sportster.

From what i was told, the problem with the supercharger comes into play when the boat jumps out of the water at high throttle. The revs go way up when the boat leaves the water and thats what kills the supercharger and the washers in them. If you throttle down when you leave the water (which is easier said then done) the supercharger will last much longer. This is what I was told by two seadoo mechanics and also read about on this forum. Since I have two sons that like to go all out with the boat I figured it would be less costly to let them do it with the regular 4-tech without the supercharger. If I was the only one to use the boat I might of thought differently about my choice. In any event, better safe than sorry.
