2006 GTX SC. Submerged Help

Hello all,

I am writing today with some unfortunate news. Out for a cruise yesterday with my 2 little 8 and 9 year old nieces my exhaust clamp decided to break and causing the Hose to come off of the exit port and put Salt water into the hull causing the engine to shut down and almost completely sink the ski.

I was able to get it out and back onto the trailer. Drain the Hull, Pulled off the supercharger hose and had about a gallon of water pour out of the supercharger itself and when I opened up the throttle body even more water came rushing out the supercharger. Pulled the plugs and was able to crank her over to remove water from the last cylinder. After all water was drained I had rinsed everything off with fresh water. Put it all back together and was able to get her running again.

However. the problem is as soon as I plug in the dess key an alarm starts instantly going off and when I unplug the key it still continues to go off for about 30 seconds or so. I can start the ski with the alarm on and I was able to run it for quite some time. Not sure what the alarm is and dash is not giving any codes.

Second is that I can not rev the RPS over 5000. Can I assume that because the supercharger got wet it needs to be rebuilt.

Any help you guys out there can help with would be appreciated.

if salt water got inside the engine I believe you need to oil it down really good and hope and pray that it lives. Salt water will ruin bearings in the motor and supercharger for sure. They might be ok for a little while but it will get them sooner or later.

Good luck with getting it cleaned out and back in good shape.

I am going through hell right now with a 04 rxp that I purchased from some scum bag. The motor only had 96 hours on it and it was submerged at one point. You could see the evidence of it when the dealer opened up the engine.

Ok,, a few basics first..

The Super Charger (SC), under normal circumstances, whe it fails the ski will loose about 20 mph and 2000 to 3000 RPM. This is true if the hose comes off or the SC simply fails. If water causes the failure, I do not know if it reacts the same as I just described.

Electrical issue(s): You need to open EVERY electrical box and clean it out. Disconnect the battery so there is no power and rinse the various boxes out. I am pretty sure the salt water has causes some corrosion type connections and that is the issue with the DESS post and what not.

The 4-tec engine is MUCH different than the 2-stroke as far as what is required to get all the water out of it.

You will likely need to change the oil like 4 times. So,,, buy a cheap but compatible oil as well as cheap filters. The filter needs changed as the water will not pass through it. So,,, it will collapse and simply can't work.

To summarize, remove battery cables, clean ALL electrical boxes and then dry them out. Us an air hose to blow the fresh water out once you get the salt water cleaned up. You can pour 97% alcohol into the various connections and boxes and then a hair dryer or Hot Air gun on it as it will rapidly evaporate the alcohol. Pull the plugs and crank the engine, if no more water is coming out. drain and refill the oil and filter. Instal new plugs if needed and fire it up. NOTE: running on a hose will NOT cool the engine. It will only run water through the intercooler and the exhaust and the impeller tunnel. For this reason, running it at home on or off a hose nothing more than 1 minute. Once it does get ruining, you should take it to the ramp and, (Install the drain plugs), leave it strapped to the trail, back it is and fire it up. Let it run for a good 20 or 30 minutes. Pull away from the ramp, change the oil and filter. Now take it out on a ride. You need a good thirty minute ride to get all the water that is trapped in the engine to evaporate and let the oil catch what it can. Take it home and change the oil again...

This is really the best thing you can do. If not, the water will rust and your engine will eat itself...

Thank you guys,

So far I have opened up all electrical connections and rubricated then with di-electric grease. The fuse box covers and wire harnesses had sitting water in them which I am sure was shorting out the alarm buzzer for sure. My alarms are all off now. As soon as I plug in the key one beep followed by the normal double beep burst with a few second delay between.. Fired up and purred like a kitten. Drained the oil and no signs of water. Thought I had more than a quart and a half of oil, so gonna pick up some more up and another filter top it off and water test.

Here is the thing though I have now noticed that it seams to have a depth finder build into my instrument panel and is flashing 0 to -- Ft. Does anyone know if this model the 2006 seadoo gtx sc actually has the depth finder built in and now that I have unplugged and cleaned all my electrical connections maybe it is again working.

Also ordered the supercharger rebuild kit. Going to see if I can get a few runs out of it before rebuilding it over the winter.

Thanks again for all your help
