2006 GTI Mid Range Miss?

Purchased this 4 stroke Sea Doo last September and took it on the water one time. Removed the old gas and put about 2 gallons of premium gas with Stabil ran enough to get it in the system removed the plugs and added oil to the cylinders for winter.

When I did have it out on the lake for that short test run I noticed a slight mid range miss, and I had the Learner key on so I figured it was the RPM limiter.

Fast forward to yesterday, August 30th. New gas with Sea Foam and out on the Lake again and with the Learner key on, but same mid range miss and it goes to 30 - 31 mph without a problem and no apparent miss at high rpm.

I have not replaced the plugs yet and that's on my list, but is the mid range miss a Learner key thing that will go away with the regular key?

Please forgive my question, and yes I did try searching and nothing came up??? The owners manual just says the mph is limited.

Of course you might say, did you try the regular key? No I was really pressed for time and it was stowed in the forward compartment not accessible in the water.

Trash the learner's key...install a fresh set of plugs. Report back.

So does the Learner key restrict mid-range RPM's, or you don't know?

Since I am 2 1/2 hours away from the Doo its a little hard to run out and jump on it right now. And if I need to get parts from my local dealer to fix other than the plugs I can take them down when I go.

I have owned and operated snow mobiles since the early 70's, the best one I had was the last one I just sold!

I did read the Manual.... that's why I am here. I thought someone here would have a "real" answer... if the Learning Key will cause a mid range miss. If it limits Rpm to 5,000 I'd say it does...

NGK DCPR8E's...what I run in mine, get them at crackauto...you should be able to do the same for less than the stealership.
The one and only time I tried the learner's key...I never got over 35mph...maybe 5Krpm?...maybe?

the learners key will not cause the miss but will cut down power throughout the rpm range because it is for beginners = slower take offs and slower speed.

Thank you... that was the answer I was looking for, it really helps. I realize I am "new" on here but this is not my first rodeo. I try to give helpful answers like yours on the "other" ten or so Forums I frequent. Its tough sometimes when new bees come on and ask questions that have been asked dozens of times before. But a Search here turned up nothing. Thanks again for taking the time.

also no need to trash the learners key. if i understand correctly, if you have a candoo, it can be programmed as a regular key.

That makes better sense. I had something like that for my TDI diesel VW, worked off a laptop and it was about $300 same as the Candoo. Thanks.
