Hello,
I happend to suck up a 1 inch diamter rock this afternoon while enjoying my time on Lake Erie. We that ended the fun. I got towed back to the marina and found this rock lodged in the impeller. We were able to free the rock but the waverunner is still not performing right. When I took it back out after dislodging the rock I still did not have optimal power. The engine would rev up but the power was not corresponding to the engine rev. Any ideas as to what I may have done to this machine which by the way is not mine. Thanks a million for any help that anyone can provide.
All the best,
Brian

Probably just chewed up the wear ring. Totally normal after ingesting something. Search here for more info. $50 and you can fix it yourself. Probably $200 at a dealer.

I am stuck working all weekend. so it gives me lots of time to help out around here.

Hi,I have a 2002 gtx di and a few weeks ago I took in a large rock, made a hell of a noise and I shut it off quick and was able to get the rock out.started it up and could only top out at 40 and it had a vibration, took it apart and the impeller, wear ring and pump housing were all damaged,I have progessive insurance and to my surprise they cover this type of damage, with the pump housing damaged it was 800 dollars to fix.long story short, check with your insurance if your damage is more than just a wear ring.

Hey... I'm glad you all are out there... I'm in bed resting my butt/back... I landed wrong about a week ago and I'm in big pain... Have fun guys...

I suspect the rock caused a problem with either the wear ring, the prop or both.

Thanks for replies

Howdy,
Just wanted to thank everyone for the replies to my post regaridng a rock in my impeller. Turns out that those who suggested the Wear Ring were correct. The final cost was approximately $190 so thanks for the suggestions.
