I am looking at purchasing a 2nd ski.
I'm looking at a 2005 RXT with 120 hours and a 2007 with 245 hours.
Both just had the supercharger rebuilt in the last month. Both run well.

I have read that 2005 wasn't a great year for the 215 motor.
An issue with the hollow exhaust valves and weak flywheel bolts.
How common are these problems?

Would these issues exist with the 2007?

Am I crazy for considering a ski with 245 hours on it?

I think the range for these issues is 2004 thur 2007. That is with a slight chance that the end of 2007 had some of the corrections.

Would the hours on the '07 scare you? The '07 is about $700 more than the '05. Getting into an '08 is going to be a bit more money than I was hoping to spend on a 2nd ski. Opinions?

I've got a 10-year rule. When any mechanical system reaches 10 years, anything can happen and probably will at the worst moment. I'd go with something with a bit more life on it. Good luck!

Could wait a year?. If all things are equal, the 05. How well have each one has been maintained? 400 hrs is not unusual for a great taken care of Pwc. Ride them first. Go with best educated pick.

BTW mounting the wake pole to the RXT is easy.
