HI there, I recently rebuilt the motor in my '05 challenger 180 SC. It runs great and all seems we'll until i get out into open water and open up the throttle. At WOT the boat will cruise for about 1 to 2 minutes then she'll start to spit and sputter, lose power and act like its going to stall. If I throttle down to about 3500 rpms it will cruise slowly with no issues. From what information I have I believe this is what we call "limp mode". I have the candoo pro system and the code that I am pulling off the main computer I believe is P 0600. The definition of the code that I have found is "mpem not communicating properly with ECU, possible cause is the 2 amp fuse on the mpem. I've replaced the fuse with no luck. is there a way for me to find out if the mpem is indeed bad before i purchase a new one??? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

This issue sounds vaguely familiar, not sure if my memory is correct but recall something about a harness connector needs to be cleaned. Saltwater maybe?

Otherwise and despite the communication fault, makes me wonder about fuel pressure or water contamination.

ask at candoo forum since you have one.
the mpem is hard one to nail down. but the fault p0600 is a good guide, is it current or occurred fault? limp mode limits the rpm to either 2500 or 5000 depending on fault, so can you increase the rpm back up over 5000 again after cruising around?
no limp home mode for this code.....
check fuses and conection link from the efb to ecm

Thanks for the wiring diagram...I plan on referencing the candoo forum as soon as I get a chance to and I'm going thru the wires now to check for bad connections. I know it's got to be an easy fix, I just haven't found it yet.

Yeah sum of the research I've done has led me to the conclusion that the previous owners had it in salt water and may not have cleaned it correctly after each trip. Now the corrosion is starting to show up with my ownership. Thanks for the "water contamination" theory, I haven't thought of that. I'm going to drain the fuel tank and add an additive to clear that up. Thanks to all of you for your input...if or when I find the problem I'll repost for anyone else who may be having similar problems...thanks again
