Hello there,
I wanted to know what superchargers are compatible with a 2004 RXP s/c (supercharger)?
I ASK this b/c I see there are several options/part #'s out there and its confusing me.....
For example there are some s/c for sale from a 185 hp with no intercooler GTX MODEL. Can you use those in the RXP and what is the differences?
I did notice different part #'s for the RXP s/c vs. a 2004 GTX s/c with no intercooler on it. However it still does not tell me if they are compatible and what the differences are please advise me?
Also Where is the classifieds store on this site?
I tried to find it and could not please advise me?
I looking to buy a s/c for a 2004 rxp?
Thanks for your help in this matter.

You do not want an sc intended for a 185. Different tooth count on the gear.

A new sc's gonna cost upward of $800. Most I know find a clean used wheel and housings then add the rebuild kit. I actually had My S3 wheel built the same way for around...I dunno..$650?...less expensive than new oem and more boost to boot.

WIs that the only difference? Could I still use it?
Example if u got the rebuild kit (which comes w new gear I think) could I then use it with new gear?

As

I pulled up both part #s & looked at then side by side & still could not figure out the differnce(s). There is differences between the 185 Hp s/c & the 215 someone must know on here.....?
What I want to know is if I could change/convert the 185 s/c with the rebuil kit?
Has anyone attempted this?
If it can't work please let me know why?

You can use which ever supercharger you like (lets exclude the 255/260 here) as long as it is rebuilt with the proper rebuild kit for your engine. For instance, if you have a 215 engine and a 185 supercharger, just rebuild with a 215 rebuild kit and you're good to go.

185 and 215 superchargers are essentially identical for the housing and wheels and it is the components in the rebuild kit (specifically the gear) that makes the difference.

Ok look maybe I am asking the wrong question & wording of them so I will try 1 more time on this one.
If I buy a supercharger online from someone claiming that its from a 215 & then when I get it to me how do I know if it's the 215 or a 185?
Besides counting the teeth 16 &287 is 215hp thanks for that piece of info btw.
So to be clear here: there has to be another way for me to check if I got ripped off & the wrong one. Is there a stamp or part # on the s/c itself that will let me know if it's a authentic 215 vs. a lower model/power 185 please advise me thanks.

Read what JoeZ posted. Specifically the part I highlighted in red. Joe and others have already said.... Only difference is the number of teeth on the gear.

Get you a new SC and a rebuild kit for the 215. Rebuild your new to you purchase and install it. Simple as that based on this thread alone. BUT having seen your other threads...... It is safe to do Assuming you have properly cleaned the inside of the engine of all the old ceramic debris.
