I have a 2004 Seadoo GTX supercharged 4-TEC and was wondering if there is a way to replace the thermostat for the cooling system without replacing the whole water pump housing? IF so how is the thermostat changed? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

In an effort to ease summer heat fade....I swapped my oem thermo for a 158* merc....years ago. Somethin like $48.

Remove end hose.Take a 2qt pitcher of as close to boiling water as you can stand. Slowly pour it over the thermo housing. With large channel locks...slowly turn end cap. It will pop off. It goes back on easier than it comes off. Some have used a worm clamp to reapply pressure on the housing at the cap after it's been replaced. I did.

I have a 2002 GTX 4-TEC that I believe will need a new thermostat. Seadoo Warehouse and other suppliers only show a water pump, but no thermostat. Do I, in fact, have one and is the thermostat shown in the web site above the one I want for my machine? Thanks.

I couldn't find a schematic even listing the water pump to begin with and no idea how your differs in design from later models.

If I was a betting man I'd say the thermo listed would work perfectly. They ain't expensive.
