2004 4 tec supercharged very high idle

I have a ski that when started its idle is like 6000 rpm. Shut it right down, what could be the cause of this idle that seems to be at wot. The intake butterfly valve is closed all the way, no difference.

Have you verified that the intake butterfly opens all the way and closes all the way? It seems like something like this could be very difficult to do unless you have a MASSIVE air leak simulating a WOT throttle. Are you sure that the 6000 RPM figure is right?

Yes, I remove the hose and can see the valve open and shut. 6000 is accurate, the engine is racing at startup. Way to high to even consider running for more then a second or 2 before pulling the lanyard.

Just an update, the intake was loose, idles fine now.
