So... I let a "friend" (I'll use that term loosely, after what he did to my ski), ride my XP, he shows up about 30 minutes later w/overheat beeper screaming and limps up to boat. I took off the rear cover and smoke poors out! My guess is he grounded or sucked debris into cooling inlet. Obviously the two exhaust pipe hoses are toast, melted alot of the foam around the pipe, now I have a nice black muffler / waterbox, and the bellows on the rave valve in the back is shot. Hooked up to the hose in yard and motor seems fine, water comes out where it should.
I noticed the two exhaust flex hose that connects the tube to pipe are $87 a piece... Is there any reason I cannot substitute a piece of automotive hose for much less? If need be, I will pay the price but just trying to save a buck. Also, after replacing the bellows and checking all the waters lines to and from the pipe is there anything else I should be aware of? Thanks in advance for any knowledge you can share.
