I have a 2003 Sportster LE its not a DI. I am in the process of installing a new throttle and engine cable. I am needing to know the adjustment specs. Since these cables control the carbs and the oil pump, I need to know how to adjust the cables to insure the oil pump sends enough oil to the engine.

I am a novice however a friend helping me used to work on sea doos for a living so he knows what he's doing. But he can not find any info on adjusting the cables either. Any ideas???

If you friend has no idea on how to adjust the cables...he's couldn't have worked on seadoos before. First install the throttle cable with a lock nut on each side of the cable bracket. Install so it gives full throttle and allows the carbs to go to full idle position without any interference or play. You need to have full idle and full throttle adjusted with the cable. If you have to, adjust both ends of the cable. After it works perfect, install the oil pump cable on the carb linkage and on the oil pump cable disk. Adjust the cable so the marks on the oil pump and the cable disk line up at idle position. Now adjust the oil pump cable so it reacts in perfect sync with the throttle cable to the carbs. Make the adjustment on the carb side of the cable. It must be in perfect sync. At idle position the lines on the oil pump and disk should be perfect. That's all there is to it...

Thanks

Thanks for the info. My friend did use to work on seadoos but thats more then 10 years ago. He mainly worked on PWC not sportboats. He just wanted more info to make sure the oil and gas mix would be right. Thanks again for the info, hopefully everything will go fine.
