On Sunday afternoon I was out riding my ski by myself. As I was coming into the dock to park it, I slowly let off the gas as I normally would & it wouldn't slow up, I removed my hand completely from the throttle and again, still cruising at 55mph, passed up the dock area & continued at 55mph for a while. I panicked at first thinking how I would stop, I realized I could just bail on the ski and by pulling the key out it would stop. I ended up swimming with the ski into shore. I stopped at the closest house & it just so happened the guy was a boat mechanic, now he said he didn't do jet skis but would take a look at it. He pulled the seat cover off and when he looked in at it his exact words were "holy shit this could have been bad" The cable for the throttle was stuck in full open position and would not come back. I called a dealership & explained to them the situation & they had said they never heard of such a thing, I called Seadoo & they said no recall on this type of issue & there is nothing they can do b/c it is out of warranty. Anyone else ever experience anything like this?

I'm guessing age and a freak thing.
As noted, if the throttle body closes then you likely need a new cable. I'd replace it rather than try to service it.
And,,, I truly wish I had a camera on your face at 55 MPH going past the dock,,,,

No, the throttle body linkage is not springing back without help. We did put some lubricant on & it seemed to help but the guy who looked at it said "do not drive this thing, take it right to the dealer"
Yes, it definitely was an experience I will never forget, I am glad it was just me on the ski & I didn't have any kids with me. According to the boat mechanic it wasn't the cable, he felt it was the linkage. He said it would not spring back into position.
After this I am really debating, trading it in for a jet boat. Little nervous about that though as I love my ski, but have always wanted a jet boat.
I would agree with the advice given to not ride it until it's looked at.. If that throttle body isn't snapping back closed then you do have bigger issues than a simple cable.. I would try and find a reputable indy shop in your area vs. the dealer... Nothing wrong with the dealer but they will want to replace parts vs. servicing them.. ie The dealer will want to replace that throttle body vs. servicing it.. I believe the part alone is $600... Maybe you can find a good indy shop that knows these 4tec motors..
