2003 GTX DI

Hi, had a dead fuel pump and bought a replacement one on ebay.

The top bit is not sealing on the pump and it looks as if the pump nozzle is too short when the spring is pushed in. It might be that I messed up the installation, not sure.

Anyone ran into this issue before?

I can't see much from the pictures but when you install the pump the springs are going to compress and the discharge tube will slide father down the pump output tubing. Look down the tube and make sure the pump positing is lined up with fairly close with the discharge tube. It is easy to get it cockeyed in there. Not helpful for you I'm sure but this is a 2003 RX DI I think... LOL

It ended up being a dud pump. Managed to ge a replacement and its now working.

Aftermarket. The dud and replacement is Quantum off ebay.
Only started it and still need to get it to the water.Running and idling smooth though.
With panic and global shipping issues I also bought a Venom off ebay as backup so will see hownit goes when I get to test it on the water

I’m not sure which Quantum model you have.
I just replaced the fuel pump in my 2002 GTX-DI
with a Quantum pump model HFP-342DI.
Perfect fit and the ski runs great.
As I understand it the current draw can be an issue with some aftermarket fuel pumps, resulting in not enough stator output to operate the fuel pump and charge the battery while running.
You might want to check the voltage at the battery while running the motor, to be sure it’s being charged.

Yep exact same model. First one was running just not pumping......must be internal failure. The guys I bought it from sent me a replacement which works great for starting at least

Once I managed to test it on the water and checked battery charge I will post the result.

I don't want to be a party pooper, but I have never found a aftermarket pump that works. I have 5 or six in the garage. I read here that some have.

Doesn’t work in what way? Over taxes the charging system or doesn’t provide the correct pressure or fuel flow?

I haven't got one that produces the right pressure. So never got the machine running to determine if it draws too much.

Interesting, I don’t have the tools to measure the pressure, but mine fired right up and we rode it all day... big bubbles, no troubles!

If it runs it's probably getting the right pressure and if you rode for a good while, it probably isn't drawing too much from the battery. As I said, there are a few here that had success with the aftermarket pumps. Congrats.

Not wanting to derail this thread, but I don't understand that if even one of the aftermarket pumps work for someone, then why can't they all work. I tried 5 different pumps (they kept sending new ones at no charge) none worked.
