Hello...I've been having cavitation problems as well as top speed problems with my '03 GTX 4-tec s/c....I did do the s/c kit as well as change the wear ring, and oil change/new plugs at 113 hours....there are now 133 hours on boat. The engine seems strong for sure and the power is there. The best top speed is about 57 mph @7100 rpm.
The big thing is I seen no difference in top end speed, although there is a big difference in less cavitaion.....(there was a groove in the old wear ring 1/4" deep.) The dealer is saying this is a 65 mph boat, but I dunno about that.

I'm still having big time cavitation issues, but it is inconsistent cavitation and it may or may not happen. I has happened ovbiously when pulling a tube, but it can also happen when I'm on by myself.
I'm not sure where to start looking with these problems since I've already done the recommended dealer suggestions.....any thoughts?

Thanks.

Check the jet pump and look for any areas that might cause air to pocket in the jet pump. I usually inspect my jet pump closely every couple weeks for inconsistency and use silicone to fill any gaps. It just might be this simple solution that helps.
