2003 GTI cuts out with much over idle RPM

My 2003 GTI worked fine at the end of last year, I put some fuel stabilizer in and wintered it in my garage. This spring I put new battery, new plugs, filled the gas and oil, and it started up pretty quick, idles great.

But as soon as I give it any throttle the engine starts to cut out and if I keep giving it throttle the engine floods and dies. As long as I don't give it too much throttle it can run at an idle or very very low RPM for as long as it wants, I ran it for about 10 mins hoping it was just some old fuel that needed to be worked out of the system, but it wasn't.

Anyone have a clue what's going on?

Checked the fuel filters, didn't find anything. Engine is getting plenty of fuel, the plugs are wet after the engine dies.

try turning your fuel selector switch to part on and part off see how it runs then, if it is a true flooding problem your needle and seat may be sticking.
