im looking to start an impeller removal on my non running ski!!! would like input, info, steps in doing this as it is my first time doing it. what to look out for how to inspect it what to change while im in there. trying to see what is caused my motor to lock up. also thinking to do a rebuild on it so looking for a price or where to purchase a COMPLETE rebuild kit for it. other members have told me to remove the pump is this with impeller or something different? any help is greatly appreciated!! trying to sort what my next step with this skii is because my location doesn't have a demand for parting out skis. so would need to fix or just have a ski sitting and taking up space. thanx in advance!!

Go to seadoo warehouse and type in your jet ski by year and model number. Then look for all the parts that you will need. Write down ALL the part numbers, impeller, wear ring, etc...then head on over to Amazon and type in the name along with the part numbers and you will save tons of money. I bought a solas impeller for half of it's cost anywhere else. Also, go to you tube and there's a video that shows you step by step on removing and replacing the wear ring and impeller. It's really easy. There's a video in this forum too. I like the one on YouTube better.. good luck

Make sure you pull the pump first to see if its really locked up. Thats an easy one with no special tools. If you remove the drive shaft, the engine can be run on a water hose to test things & make sure your problem isn't somewhere else. Be sure to search the procedure on "running on the hose" before doing this.

If you decide to do this, be sure to pull the clip that holds the carbon drive shaft seal, as the pump keeps the shaft in place, so you can slide the ring back to remove the clip. You can search the site for more info on that too. Very difficult to remove it, if the pump is pulled off the back of the ski.

Thanx for all the advice. I'm jus trying to get it turned by hand as it seems to have had water in cylinders. So I want to get it to turn by hand to free up pistons first. I don't have money to waste so trying to go about it a smart way step by step. If I get it free up a compression test is next in line correct?

remove the pump before you order anything, silly to order rebuild parts until you know if the pump is part of the problem.

all you really need is a ratchet, metric socket set and some extensions to pop the pump off... then see if the PTO moves freely.

If you had any water sitting in the cylinders the engine is toast. Freeing it up will not help it will grenade as soon as it was to start. These are not like an old Chevy 350 that has been sitting for years that you can free the pistons and run it for another 60 thousand miles.

That's y I wanted the rebuild cause even if the pro is part of the problem I still had some kind of fluid sitting in cylinders it was brownish but oily at the same time could be water or oil who knows doesn't smell like water though. But like y said ill pull pto first. Hopefully this weekend so ill post on my progress and want I find.

I took the impeller off and I found deep scoring on the inside and when I spin The impeller I can hear it slightly rubbing. Has lots of cracks as well. The shaft is left to remove. But engine still not turning am I missing something else to remove maybe a bearing for the shaft. What else do I have to remove to remove the shaft?

I guess I did get it to post right there where my wife's finger is is some deep scoring not sure if it's visible. Also piece of the outer wear ring that sits towards the ski is missing.
