2002 Sea doo gtx 4tec ecm

I am looking for a new ECM for my 2002 seadoo gtx 4tec i took it in for a new battery, oil change and sparkplugs and it left there needing a new ECM...ugh! I have found used one online but they were going to be sent without any warranty or guarantee I can't do that. The cost for the repair I am told is 730.00I have no idea if this is reasonable or not considering there is only one shop in town that deals with seadoo. Any advice will help I am a couple of days away from just biting the bullet and getting it fixed. Thanks, Jenn

Ditto, I have one as well. I needed an mpem and had a mechanic charge me for a used one $400. Look on Ebay for a used one by name (ECM) and also by part number where you can go to any parts online and get a part number from the schematic. Buy one yourself used and put it on, it is very simple to do. I used to be like you and take it into the shop, but you will pay dearly. Buy a shop manual from online, about $20, subscribe to this forum and ask questions, research online, and get your hands dirty. Or else these mechanics will own you!!

Sorry, Jenn, no disrespect, I did not realize you were a lady. Working on these skis takes patience and the ability to be motivated to save monetarily. Check it out and let me know what your outcome is.
