2002 RXD1 - Revs fine no power though.

Hello all!

What causes little or no power when the engine appears to be ok and operating normally?

I'm pretty good with my 91' K5 Chevy Blazer but wouldn't you know, my newly purchased 02' RXD1 is a different animal.

So... i'm riding along and then all of a sudden it seams like there is no power?

I can get the engine to rev fine and it sounds ok but the it bareley goes over ten miles an hour. the revs are not being limited or as far as i know it is not in limp mode.

What causes little or no power when the engine appears to be ok and operating normally?

OK

so no replies huh.

I'm probably not giving enough info. I'll study the forum pages and look for info that is usually included with posts.

More info coming soon -

check for something blocking your intake grate, check your impeller for pieces missing or chips, and check your wear ring in your pump, sounds like its probably got too much clearance!

Update to information -

The previous owner replaced the impeller but didn't replace the wear ring.

after 3 hours of use when i bought them the wear ring failed

I had the wear ring replaced and it seemed to solve the problem of terrible noises.

I'll use a feeler guage to check the gap on the new wear ring and do another visual inspection.

Thank you for the reply.

update =

I checked the gap on the wear ring and it was good. i also ran the engine again and it sound just like it always does. visual inspection of the wear ring and the impeller revealed nothing.

any other places you think i can check?

i had a similar problym with mine, the engine seemed to sound strong, but the ski wouldnt go over 10 mph, had a friend of mine take a look at it and he finially realized that i had no spark to one of the cylinders. changed the coil and it ran better than ever. i would check the spark plugs as well as the coil.

then i would have to say its probably in the pump. unless those boats have a clutch. not sure. if it doesnt have a clutch, and your engine revs to the moon and your boat only goes 10km/h....its in the pump!
