Took my 2 jet skis I just bought out first for the run and everything seems to be O.K. After I loaded them on the trailor , I pulled the plugs out and the one skis had a lot of water in it. Not sure what to check for first? I'm new to the jet ski world....THANKS FOR ANY HELP

Clean those plugs out and get that engine running ASAP. You do not want water sitting in the engine. Once you get it running, fog the crap out of the bottom end (through the throttle bodies) and pull plugs and shoot some down the cylinders.

Check around your pipe-manifold connection for any signs of water leaking. Start the ski up on the hose and see if you notice any water leaking around and possibly getting sucked into the engine (remove the air box to get a better view)

If you still can't figure it out, check around the bottom of the cylinders at the base gasket and look for water seepage. Odds are if it isnt the exhaust, your base gasket is leaking, allowing water to enter the cylinders.

I'd look into it if there was more than a quart or two of water in the bilge, you could have a corroded "freeze" plug on the exhaust manifold(these are welded in place), a leak at the drive shaft seal, or even the exhaust manifold gasket could be spraying water at high throttle positions.

I've noticed some of the later boats show no bailers on the parts diagrams.

Oh that is a releif. I must have read that wrong. First thing to check is to run the ski on the hose and see if there are any leaks. Correct if any. If none found, strap the back of seadoo to the trailer and back down into the water. Lift the seat and look for leaks. if none, start the engine and look for more leaks.

Then move onto the bailer system (two black rectangle boxes at the bottom of the hull. Gently lift the metal tab and slide them out. The undersides should have lots of little holes. Make sure they are clean (wash them with soap and water and poke the holes with a tooth pick or something. Make sure the lines go up to the top of the ski (near the rear grab handle) and then go back down and out towards the jet pump. If they are just lying in the hull, water will end up coming in via jet pump. Another thing to check/replace is to remove the jet steering pump nozzle and replace the two little O-rings at the top of the jet pump.

Other areas to look for are around the carbon seal (remove the grey cover @ rear of engine) (ski must be in the water) and also the steering and reverse cables as they come through the hull can leak.

Or on occasion, the hull seem may leak. If it leaks through the hull. Go to a marine store (west marine, etc) and buy a tube of Sikaflex. It is the best sealant and will stick to anything. I always joke it could hold water together!

Well hooked a hose up this evening and I can not find any water coming in. Bailer system is o.k. . Not sure about carbon seals on drive shaft.pumped some grease in to grease fitting on drive shaft. Seemed to expand out and seal the carbon seal better. I quess I'll try it the water next...

Just leave the back of the ski tied down to the trailer and back in so it is slightly under water. Then look for leaks. Only will take you a couple minutes and you will see right away where the problem is.
