Hey guys, so I bought a broken DI last fall as a hull and a box of parts. Had the engine rebuilt by SES here in PA. I installed it myself using the owner's manual and good old mechanical skills.
Took it out to the river yesterday to test run and break it in. It starts right up and idles fine. When I apply a little throttle, it wants to stall out. It will re-start right away but stalls out when applying throttle. Sometimes I could get it to go, it would hesitate and hiccup a little and then go. I could only get 30mph out of it at roughly 5k rpm. It would cruise around 20mph and 4,500 rpm or so just fine, but I feel like that too high of rpm for that speed. Check for leaks or any kind, I found nothing. I am assuming the engine itself is good being that it's freshly rebuilt by a reputable shop. I put new plugs and fresh 87 octane in it when installing. Rave valves were cleaned. Injectors looked ok/clean. Ski has 176 hours on it before engine went.
I inspected the wear ring and it has a few scuffs but the tolerance is good and nothing major. I did find that the carbon ring is very loose but it didn't leak any water in? Not sure if it's cavitation or something fuel related?
Any tips? Where would you start? Thanks in advance!!
