I went out today to investigate why it runs perfect with no seats in place and found that the ground cable is red hot (untouchable) i removed the ground cable between the battery and engine body and cleaned, this made a big difference, would it be possible that the internals of the cable have broken down causing it to get extremely hot.
It is so hot it is melted the rubber on the cables (battery end)

Cut the lugs off and solder on new and marine shrink wrap.
