2001 Sportster Price?

I am currently looking into a 2001 Sportster that is priced between $4,000 & $5,000. Hopefully, I will know what the compression test results are and the approximate hours, and if the boat is above average overall. They are supposed to send me detailed pictures. I spoke with the dealer over the phone and he said the boat is in excellent condition and they just recently replaced the stator and CPU. A couple of gals traded the boat for a new Challenger. I'm guessing this has a single 951cc engine with 130hp? The boat does not come with a cover or bimini. Any thoughts or opinions as to whether or not I should pay this price? Thanks for the help!

That is a decent price if it is in good shape. Make sure to take it out for a test spin if they will let ya.

I just learned that I got the boat for $4,300 and no extra costs. That is my tow away price. Ofcourse, I will have to purchase a cover for it. Both cylinders test at 130psi and the pictures look great. It has a galvanized trailer that is included. Do you think I did okay? I'm guesstimating that a cover will cost me in the area of $300.

I bought the same boat for $6000 CDN in July (asking price was $7000). So yes good price if it runs well? Did you try it out in water?
130 PSI is on the low side based on what I read here. However it seems to be more important that both cylinders are around the same PSI. Mine was around 130 and 135 and it runs fine and gets up to around 45 MPH.

Good deal. I would not buy any boat without a water test though. You can get a cover from poppycompany.com for around 300, best cover made and awesome people. Tell terri we referred you.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I feel a lot better about my purchase now. I can't wait until Monday. That will be my first play date with the Sportster. I will also look into those covers.
