I press start and no beep, beep...nothing; except fuel gauge pegs. Battery fine, everything else works

You should get two beeps as soon as you connect the DESS. If you are not getting the beeps, check the connections on the back of the plug and on the start button. You should also check the beeper, these sometimes go bad. You may be getting an error beep and can't tell. If the beeper is working and you are not getting the two beeps, no sense pushing the start button as it will not start.
