Hey guys! I took my 2001 Sportster out for the first time this morning and it wanted to die on me a lot. It ran sweet for about 10 minutes. But after that, it seemed like whenever I'd get it over 3,000 rpm, then it wanted to quit. It always fired up right away. I took the fuel filter off and cleaned a lot of gunk out of it. I then dumped a 16oz can of SeaFoam into the fuel tank and tried to open the throttle up. It ran just fine for about 5 minutes and then it died again. It actually left me stranded on the lake. I tried starting it again, but it wouldn't even turn over this time. By the time I got the Sportster loaded back up on my trailer, and let all of the water drain out, it then fired up without a problem. Does this sound like I have an electrical connection that may be loose?

Also, are these boats supposed to take in a lot of water? It seemed like it drained a ton after I opened the plugs.

I would start by checking the compression on all cylinders. Make sure they are all within seadoo specs. After that have your carbs cleaned/re-built. They have small filters inside them, if you pulled a bunch of stuff out of your fuel filter there is a good chance it has clogged your carb filters as well.

No you should not be draining a bunch of water. Check all of your water lines and make sure they are connected properly and not leaking water inside the boat.
