hey guys,i have a 01 gs,it was running using the oil injectors,i ran it like that when i bought it and it had quick throttle response, how ever the owner /mechanic told me that its not a good idea to always rely on the oil injectors, ive heard that you can pre mix,50 to 1 to keep the pistons from damaging them selves...so now that im doing that i notice some loss in my take off,am i putting to much oil into my tank?how do i know if my oil system works still?my oil light had turned on even when i had oil in the oil tank.which is another reason i started to pre mix.any ideas would be very helpfull.mind you this is my first jet ski,not super familiar with the mechanics of it all.....thanks guys/girls:confused:

Did he install an oil block off or are you running oil injection and premix?

Long live the 2 stroke Seadoo!

That is a terrible idea. You need to have oil in that tank to lube the rv. Is it atleast looped with oil in the line?

I'm not sure what looped with oil means?everything is attached the way it was made.I simply took the oil outta the tank and pre mixed new oil.I'm not sure if it works,so I pre mixed just incase.maybe I can keep a quarter tank in there?

If you ran it with no oil in the tank and it is still running you are very lucky.

The mechanic never said anything about blocking the oil tank.I'm confused.I thought the oil went into the piston?

Oil is also circulated through the bottom end of the motor. When converting to pre mix, most people remove the oil pump and install a block off plate. You must keep oil in the tank and the big line going to the bottom end and the return line hooked up to the tank. I leave about a quarter of a tank of oil in my tank.

If ur oil pump is still hooked up u need to be running oil in the tank for your RV..... U can't just leave the tank dry and premix as Adam said that is a terrible idea.... Leave the oil injection alone, they are pretty solid on these skis.... If u do decide to premix you will need to remove the oil pump and install a block off. But you will still need to leave the oil tank in the ski with enough oil in it to keep the RV lubed as Adam said..... If that is what your mechanic is instructing you to do, it's time for another mechanic

Thank you Bnelson, that's exactly what I was trying to explain. I guess if he wants to listen to his mechanic, then the mechanic can install a new engine when he fries this one.

EXACTLY!!! And you are welcome, thought you laid it out pretty well in your reply... But I figured a lil backing couldn't hurt, especially when your trying to save a guy from toasting his ski!!

sorry guys,i was not trying to say your wrong, yeah it makes sense to leave about a quater tank of oil in there.he just dint say to block it off.so im gonna go with your advice.i dint know that oil had to be in the rv.....

No, you will have to remove the oil pump.... If not it will also pump oil into the mix and you will be waaaaay to rich.... Fouling plugs and horrible performance.

ok.so should i just use the oil tank?how would i know if it works?the last time i had it out not much oil was gone.i wasnt out long,my red light had came on next to the oil simble.

IMO I would just leave the oil injection as it is... And no it will not use a ton of oil, what I mean is your not gonna notice a lot gone out of the tank after a short ride.... And as far as the red light coming on it means you are running low on oil

do you use the oil tank for your oil?

What do you mean by that? I mean I don't put beer in there... Lol it's just for oil... If your trying to ask if I leave my stock oil injection then the answer is yes.... All of my skis have had the stock oil injection and no issues with any of the oil pumps.....

I premix my 787 96XP. I have the oil pump removed, block off plate , and my oil injection nipples capped. I keep around 1/4th tank of oil in it at all times.

I only did this for my peace of mind with my new engine. Injection is the way to go and super reliable if kept up. You will burn far less oil and save a ton of money

bro your a $$$$ i know you dont put beer in there.you and your busted up 96 jetski can go suck a $$$$...
