2001 LRV Intake grate

I'm brand new here, so if I break protocol, I apologize in advance. I haven't had my PWC out yet this year, and I've recently moved from Wisconsin to Idaho. It is a little more rocky here than in WI. I don't have an intake grate on my LRV, and I want to buy one. We have a family outing scheduled for next week.

My questions are:

1 - how important is it for me to have one?

2 - how likely is damage to my PWC if I don't have one?

3 - how is the Solas brand for replacement?

4 - is there anything I need besides the grate to replace it, such as bolts, etc?

if you cant find one, dont worry. Have fun, and find one when you return. Make sure you dont start motor in shallow water or run anything over
