Hi, I'm new to the forumn and am looking at buying a seadoo from a friend. It is a 2001 GTX RFI 787 engine. Last summer the ski cut off and wouldn't crank back. This past weekend I got the ski from him to begin the troubleshooting process. The ski was beeping crazy (didn't match any of the codes in the manual) and would do nothing when you tried to crank. After checking all connections and cleaning them. I managed to get it to crank. Engine runs perfect. Went to the river today, fired right up and ran perfect 6750 rpm @ 54mph topend. When I was idling it cut off and woudnlt start not even turn over. It was doing the same beeping thing again. During this the 12v low light was on. Finally after a while and a tow, it cranked and ran perfect all the way back to the ramp. When I got home to flush it it cranked right up. Has anyone heard of this before? Maybe a battery or magneto issue? Or computer issue? Thanks for your help

Battery is only a year old and post have been cleaned. All or atleast all I found electrical connections have been unhooked spreayed with CRC and reconnected.Key and port are clean also. Think that a bad battery could cause this phenomana? Or a bad magneto? Does the Seadoo dealer have a way of checking the computer for error codes?

Could this problem be the rectifier?

Rectifers work or they don't. (You can't be almost pregnant)
Check, clean and tighten all connections starting with the starter all the way back to the battery.
Put a volt meter on the battery. You should have 12.4 to 13.4 approx. voltage. If not put her on a trickle charge after you disconnect the ground. (protects electrical)

All conections have been checked. I will have the battery checked. Would a bad battery cause the engine to cut off?

Now the maintance thing is showing on the digital gague. Right now the ski is acting fine but I'm just a little uncomfortable with it knowing that oviously something is not right and who knows when it may act up again. If any body has any ideas at all please post em. Thanks
