I am not getting any water spouting out of my small water hole out the back of the machine, proved the rubber hose clear any suggestions?

Also this machine will start up but after a short while will shut down, leave it for a while and it will start up again. The compression on the engine was checked and fine, just wondering if the water problem and the shutting down problem could be related?

The console says the engine temperature and the oil temperature are good, around 76 degrees F

I would think that if you don't have water coming out the pee-hole, then you have a clog or broken line somewhere in your cooling system. Then when it gets hot, it may shut down.

But yousay your engine is reading at 76 degrees F? That is way too cool.

I just checked my engine today with an infrared gauge and it was 140 at the cylinders and 115on top of the cylinder heads.

I would guess you are overheating, and your gauge or temp pickup is not reading correctly.

Fixed but costly

I brought it to the seadoo shop at Grand Falls, NL and they troubleshooted the cooling system and concluded the pipe head assembly was shot and the sea doo was toast. They said the part is no longer available (they quoted a cost of $800 when the part was available) so naturally this put me in panic mode and I searched the internet and found one on e-bay for $300 delivered. I ordered it. When I picked up my machine I decided to take 15 minutes and do some quick looking myself. I traced back the tell tale hole hose to a elbow fitting and removed that and found it to be blocked solid. I cleared it out and the machine runs perfect. It cost me $350 ($50 for the labor for troubleshooting) to find out I am better off doing it myself than bringing it to a shop with so-called techs. When I called the shop to see if there was anything they can do for me in terms of at least refunding the labor portion they said so sorry and basically piss off in a nice way.

This was the first and last time I will use this shop but at the time I didn't have the time to get into it and thought a seaoo dealership may have the expertise to fix it, I guess i was wrong. Anyway I tought i would share and vent at the same time.

That's funny i have a similar experience with my 01 GTX RFI, I brought mine in to the shop because it does not start and runs rought only when it is warm and they charged me 95 dollars for diag and replaced my spark plugs, i took it out of the shop and straight to the lake and after a half hour of riding i shut it off in the middle to go for a swim. When i went to restart it no dice, i had to swim it back cursing the shop and the Mickey mouse parts changers all the way back lol.

My 2001 GTX RFI sea doo is now doing the same thing, she cools perfectly on the hose but in the water she doesnt get good cooling, overheats and shuts down after about 20 minutes, Any suggestions??

There doesn't seem to be any restrictions as I can disconnect the hoses and easily blow through them. I did do a quick compression test though and found the forward cylinder between 40 - 50 psi lower than the aft cylinder. I removed both spark plugs when i did the compression test. I read there is something about a common intake manifold which does not allow one to test individual cylinders and a leak test is rquired, does anyone have any ideas on this?

If it is cooling on the hose but not in the water, then you are not picking up water from the jet pump.

When it is on the hose, is there a lot of water coming out of the jet pump?

As water is forced through the jet, it is forced up into a couple of holes that feed it up and into the engine. Be sure you haven't sucked up a leaf or something and clogged that line.

Disconnect and blow into the large hose that goes out into the jet pump and be sure it is completely free.

Sorry you got screwed by the dealer. That is why we have this forum. The collective knowledge on here is better than any dealer can provide, and hopefully provide you with a second (or first) opinion before you fork over any cash to a dealer.

I put water into the main suction line through the main engine suction hose and it was proven free as it came out the tell tale hole and also put water back through the main suction line and it flowed easily back through the two holes down through the impellor housing. So all proven clear. My question now is should I be concerned about the 40 psi difference in cylinder psi pressure difference before I try her again??
